Mike Hurst was a member 60s pop group The Springfields, the first British band to have a top 10 record in the USA. He later formed a group with Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), and then became a record producer and produced 50 hit records with Marc Bolan and Cat Stevens, and many more. His book Every Song Tells A Story traces the history of popular music from the middle ages to the present day.
