Job Description:

Oundle Festival of Literature is looking for either one or two freelance managers to organise and run inspiring author events in our lovely market town. These are part-time roles, which would suit someone looking to develop their career and experience in events management. Local applicant(s) preferable, but also open to the right candidate(s) from the wider area.

The Festival presents about 10 author events per year in Oundle, plus a week-long festival in March for children from local schools. These are two separate posts, though they could be combined for the right candidate.

Role 1: All-Year-Round Festival, annual fee £4k, paid quarterly, approx. 2 days per month, working from home for admin, in person for events.
1. To programme, manage and deliver a range of top-quality author events for the local and wider community.
2. To liaise with the Board of Directors, publishers, authors, volunteers, the local Book Shop, local venues, advertisers, sponsors etc.
3. To manage social media accounts, online ticketing, marketing, sponsorship etc.

Role 2: KidLit Week, annual fee £2k, paid quarterly, equivalent to approx. 1 day per month, but mostly seasonal (early March), working from home for admin, in person for events.
1. To programme, manage and deliver a range of top-quality children’s author events for local schools around the first week of March (coincides with World Book Day).
2. To organise and run a concurrent writing competition for local schools, with one author event for prizegiving.
3. To liaise with the Board of Directors, publishers, authors, local schools, volunteers, the local Book Shop, local venues etc.

Both roles require excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a passion for bringing the joy of books and reading to others. Please visit our website www.oundlelitfest.org.uk for a flavour of past events.
