DOCS+ Eternal You
If you had the chance to talk to a loved one who’d died, would you take it? Forget mediums and seances, Eternal You looks at the creation of digital replicas of our loved ones, avatars that we carry in our phones and who we can talk to as if they were across the kitchen table.
They’ll respond, they’ll answer our questions – but how close do they get to the “original”? Can they really replace someone who’s passed away. Can they replicate a mother or a son? And even if they can, should they? Are we not allowed to move on?
Eternal You reveals how they’re created, looks at the companies that create them and wonders if the digital development of eternal life really is a good thing. Do we want people to live for ever, do we need them to? In our phones and tablets?
Special Guest to be announced.
“This world-tilting documentary examines an industry dedicated to creating realistic avatars of loved ones, so the bereaved can communicate with them. It’s beautifully balanced – and highly alarming.” The Guardian.
“It’s impossible not to be horrified by this AI quest to bring the dead back to life.” The Guardian.
