Harborough Singers present Mid-Summer in Song
Music & History in Fotheringhay
Renowned English Heritage historian Nick Hill MBE will join the Harborough Singers at Fotheringhay Church for ‘An evening of Summer Song’ on Saturday 29th June at 6.30 pm. A great friend of the choir, Nick is known for his love of exploring attics, poking around in lofts, and teasing out the hidden secrets and tales held within buildings. His findings at Fotheringhay – known for its connection to Richard III and Mary Queen of Scots – will be fascinating. Though the choir are slightly worried about the title of his talk − ‘A history of Fotheringhay Church … or How to Lose a Choir’. Ominous.
Providing it didn’t get lost, the choir will be newly returned from a tour of Hungary. They will perform music from the tour at Fotheringhay, choral classics by Vaughan Williams, Monteverdi, Haydn, Stanford, Parry and Grieg, as well as some beautiful pieces by less well-known composers.
Tickets are £15 to include a glass of bubbles (Prosecco or Elderflower) and strawberries. Perfect for a summer evening. From www.harboroughsingers.com or telephone 07761 729558.
